Service Description: Crisis services to people who have experienced sexual assault and / or domestic violence * may include physical examination, treatment of injuries, medications to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, information on pregnancy, choice of completing the sexual assault evidence kit * emotional support * crisis counselling * safety planning * follow-up care

People are seen in a private room by specially trained sexual assault / domestic violence nurses and social workers to ensure confidential and sensitive treatment * police are not called unless the patient indicates this choice

WRHN is the designated sexual assault centre for the region

Fees: Free
Application: After an assault, go directly to the Emergency Department at WRHN @ Queens Blvd., WRHN @ Midtown or Cambridge Memorial Hospital and ask to see the sexual assault / domestic violence team * minimal wait (45-60 minutes) for the nurse and social worker on call to arrive
Eligibility / Target Population: Sexual assault services are offered to anyone who has been sexually assaulted regardless of age or gender * domestic violence services are offered to anyone who has experienced intimate partner abuse in the past 30 days
